PHYBA PLAYERS WITH NORTHSTARS Now at US College Championships!!

It's with great pride to announce that 3 of my former players, who are now attending colleges in the States, have won their conference championships, and will be playing in their national championship tournament.

A.J. Mandani - This player has been with me from 10 years old until he finally left for South Suburban College in Chicago (Junior College). Last year they won their Region IV, and went to the Nationals, and emerged 7th in the nation. This year, South Suburban improved to a 29-4 record -- at one point being ranked 3rd nationally -- and have again repeated by being Region IV champions with A.J. earning 1st Team honours in the Region. They will be playing among the top 12 teams of the nation in the 2008 NJCAA championship tournament , with their first game on the 20th. Game is only available via internet TV ($15 / game)… I'm trying to figure out how to move it over to a normal TV to watch! He just emailed me saying that he'll be home between the 24-29, and wants to come to practice…. OPEN, you guys are going to have to contain him in practice on the 26th.

Jessica & Angel Roque - These twin girls started organized basketball with the North Stars at age 8, and were instrumental at many championship Tyke game battles. They played for me for 4 years before I focused on the older teams and they went on to lead their OBA & high school teams. These same girls were recognized by both Toronto Sun & Toronto Star as one of the top female high school bball players in the GTA. They are now sophomores on the Cleveland State University team, and their 4th ranked team convincingly knocked out the 1st and 2nd ranked teams to win the Horizon Conference championships… earning them a berth to the 2008 NCAA Division 1 Women's championships (Top 64 teams). I am awaiting their finalized brackets so I can watch their televised games!

It would be difficult to watch A.J., but if you have a chance to watch Cleveland State women's team in March madness, please show your support to some home grown North Star players.
